Unusual Kona

Loving all these unusual early Kona’s.

Although chainstay mounted u-brake’s were phased out, I think they look cool. They give the seat stay area a really clean look.

Talking about unusual Kona bikes, I just picked up a 1988 Explosif with custom paint job - black with yellow and blue. Serial number T880 0049.

That’s very cool.
Would love to know the story behind it - can’t be many in that colour.

Absolutely love the Explosif and would love to know more about it,definately looks like a custom order.

My son who works for Trek will clean and tune it up for me tomorrow. I will take more pics and post them for your viewing. The custom paint job was signed - “Painted by Rich” on the left chain stay.

Stunning. The splatter colours reminds me of deep space.

It has a pump peg aswell. Never seen that on a Kona. Very Brodie-style
