Hi All
Some of you may have seen my recent Disk Drive Pro ebay listing, I eventually accepted an offer from an overseas buyer but it didn't go to plan and they pulled out citing high import tax costs, shipping and handling fee's etc. Quite frustrating but when I factor in the ebay sellers fee's which are not insignificant, I have decided to list directly through Retro bike to gauge a response.
This is a fairly rare opportunity to purchase an unused piece of Mountain Biking kit which over 30 years ago, caught the attention of the cycling world, not only for it's aesthetics but for me, it was also the sound they produced too.
Originally intended for use with my 1993 S-Works Team, I never went ahead with it having seen other people in the 90's have expensive 'incidents'. It's always just been a conversation piece and something to appreciate.
Had I chosen the components to assemble this wheel I don't think I would have changed a thing.
Originally built by Tioga with an engraved date of 9/92 on the M231 Ceramic Rim, it’s a Version one 36h on an M900 XTR hub and Hyperglide 8Sp Cassette with the original QR skewer, all unused freely spinning true.
There’s enough spare hardware to almost build another wheel along with one inflation adapter, Tioga thread-lock, a wrench and its carry bag in original condition. There are also some retro Tioga badges and stickers as pictured which are included.
At 32 years old there is a little degradation as expected, even having stored it out of direct sunlight.
This is a reluctant sale having owned the wheel for over 20 years after buying it directly from a Tioga rep. Funds raised would be used to progress house renovations.
Shipping is at the buyers expense as collection would certainly be a preference due to the nature of this item.
If required I have created a robust wooden travel case to protect the wheel should it need to be shipped but with robust comes a weight penalty;
