Unofficial retrobike allotment thread....

This summer seems to have been good for bees so far.
We can help them by having more areas of planting like in the photos...

Sounds good. We must preserve some 'wilder' areas and corridors to encourage the beneficials in.

Must add that the 1st photo of the 4 in my previous post is of Sarah Raven's establishment at Perch Hill, East Sussex. The last 3 photos are of bits of Myddelton House in Enfield. These corners were fair buzzing with masses of bees. Quite a sight and makes you feel there's still hope.

The bug is a cicada. Most unusual in sunny yorkshire, it was about a foot underground. I thought the martians had landed when I found it.

I've just given up digging! :shock:
