Universal definition of "Ugly" as it applies to re

Stupid-light stuff on DH/Freeride bikes is dumb and ugly)[/quote]

I have to disagree, My Modern DH bike has XO and Thomson etc abd looks pretty cool., People ofen think that weight is not an issue on DH bikes, but people are aware to be honest, you have to push them up hills and hoik round trees!!
why would that be ugly on a DH bike?

The Accused: Bar ends at greater angle than stem rise

The Crime: Eye-rape

The Verdict: Guilty!

The Sentence: erm...re-adjustment to correct rise.

agree with the sticker thing, mismatched anodised stuff (however a tasteful say rasta theme could work on the right bike, a vomit load of random colours not), bar ends and risers, mismatched coloured tyres.

GTs and Scotts

guilty here too! but i find i cant ride without bar ends. ive got to agree not good with risers but how about low risers? i coulent find any flat bars while i was building my cinder cone so put some low risers on and found that i like them, have a look at "cinder cones all the way down" in readers bikes. the 94 is a modern bulid anyway so i think ill get away with it but the 98 has been changed to flat bars looks and feels much nicer now.
i still cringe at the site of fat alley tubeing and bikes that look like they had the engine stolen! dosen't realy apply to many retro bikes though

Treads like this do tend to get ugly :? i agree

but

Most comments for me relate to scally/chav bikes and catalogue/cash n carry bikes, stolen bikes, commute bikes, and 'leisure' bikes IMO!

So long as we dont slate each other we should be fine.

maybe a picture of ladies in lycra to beauty it up a bit? :D

SRAM X/O and Thomson are not "stupid-light". A carbon USE seatpost or Topline cranks... now THAT's stupid-light.

oh and men in lycra!

Even if the bulge is really large?

I've got one or two more...

Seatposts that face in the wrong direction

Nice bikes that don't fit the rider (seatpost all the way down or WAY too high).

A nice bike isn't very nice if it doesn't fit. Every bike was designed with a "mannequin" fit... a rider of specific dimensions that's supposed to fit that bike. If you're not close to those dimensions then don't ride the bike. It's not rocket science. Would you buy expensive shoes that are 4 sizes too small just because they are "quality"?
