i would just squeeze the 130 hubbed wheel in and leave it unset personally

Just putting the wheel in gets my vote as well.

Cold setting is a euphemism for irreparably damaging.

Acquire some nice 126mm hub'd rears and ride seven speed. Job's a good un.

beginning to think that way

ideally would love to buy Normandy large flange hubs
and get them built into new alloy rims

can but dream - expensive and no wheel builders local to me... :(

Build them yourself, I'm just about to give it a go, surely it can't be that difficult??!!

keep notes, sketches and pictures EACH step of the way

and i could be tempted...................

On the basis my garage is 'riddled' with bikes, I plan to us an existing wheel as a guide

I have the rim, I have the hub (now wondering why I removed the spokes and threw them away in the first place!)

haha.......problem #1 = calculate new spoke length...............

Have a go at rebuilding.
Here is IMO, the best guide there is. I've built quite a few now, both before and after reading this book, much better wheels. The spoke calculator is on there too.
Go on, have a go, you'll be ever so pleased you did :)

thanks for the link - Sunday reading

plan A... buy a set of cheap alloys to get the ''Premiere'' on the road.......DONE

plan B .........to replace the chrome wheels on the ''Loire'' [bike #1.]
hunt down a pair of mint Normandy large flange hubs
and buy a pair of Mavic rims
build my own over the winter
so plenty of time to find the hubs

and something to do on the long dark winter nights in rural Scotland... .. :xmas-cool:
