U brake replacement suggestions

Hello,

I've got a u-brake on one of my projects that seems to be missing a small
but important part.

Can anyone suggest a good replacement for u-brakes? I believe it's possible
to use either roller cam brakes or BMX type u-brakes. Are there any particularly good versions, or ones to avoid?

Cheers,

Johnny

Cheers, cool I have some maguras already than might work.

So do they just bolt into the post holes for the u-brakes?

Get some XCD or XC Sport roller cams off the bay or from online bicycle parts dealers. I currently build up an 1988 RockHopper and i´m thinking about using a roller cam instead of the original U-brake

Thanks for the suggestions - those XCDs look good -I presume they would still work on chainstay mounts rather than under the seat stays.

Looks like the mounts have to b chopped up. :?
I thought you could simply run the mounts upside down, not chop them up

The guy who put me onto the idea had to file his out a lot, it depends on the frame, and how much out of square tolerance you're prepared to put up with, mine are very sqaure to the rim. One set of mounts was only a tenner from evil bay so it was no real loss if it didn't work.
