I just can't figure out which ones to go for.
Hadn't considered the vast amount of choice (even for a 26er).
It's useless trying to read reviews as they all contradict.
So I'll let Retrobike have final say.
I'm looking for 500gram weight (ish), with good sidewall as I'm running tubes (not interested in tubeless).
For xc/trail use. Mainly wooded areas.
I like cornering strength and fast rolling.
I can't have continentals as my rims Don't like them.
Budget is around £30 per tyre, but less is better obviously.
Advice/recommendations please!!!

I'm running Vittoria / Geax "Saguaro", 545g per tyre in 2.0. Pretty good overall, fast rolling, rubbish in deep mud though.

Had good luck with Schwalbe's Nobby Nics and Rocket Rons, both of them come in at under 500g for 2.1 (Rocket Rons are "thinner" if you have clearance issues).

Re:

Michelin Wild race'r on the back, wild grip'r on the front.

Really good tyres, infact one of the very few tyres where iv bought the same again after wearing a set out.

Dont let the look of the back put you off, its grips waaay more than it has any right to and rolls like a semi-slick.

Re:

Panaracer Smoke classic in 2.1 size, and a Dart for the front

Bit heavy? what about Panaracer Fire XC ? Almost as classic as the Smoke.

Re:

Almost went for a fast trak control front and butcher grid for the rear. Still quite liking that combo, but I'll check out the Michelins as I've not considered them yet. Thanks for the ideas though, keep em coming!!!
