I rebuild these bikes over the last 5 years, the Mercian is a 1980 KOM ( I have the original build sheet ) the Fred Baker is 1973, a really beautiful frame, I've tried to find out who built it as Fred Baker was a racer in the 50's who owned a shop in Bristol and had local frame builders build for him. Both bikes were professionally resprayed using 2 pack car paint, original Reynold 531 decals and original Mercian decals were used I had the Fred Baker decals made by H Lloyd cycles and when fitted both frames were clear coated over. The Mercian has Shimano 600 arabesque derailleurs the Fred Baker NOS Shimano Titlist derailleurs, wheels on both bikes are Mavic rims with Campagnolo hubs. Should anyone be interested I have dozens of photos during the strip down and rebuild.

Dropped to £650 the pair, I will also throw in several boxes of useable vintage spares, derailleurs , cranks, brakes etc along with three retro mountain bike frames, 1 x GT Karakorum elite, 1x Saracen tufftrax and 1x Koga miyata ridge runner.
Selling up due to ill health, I've built bikes for many years but unfortunately I can no longer manage to work on my bikes , it breaks my heart when i go in the garage and see all my stuff but have no interest in them anymore.

I want both to go together , it would be a shame to split them. The Fred Baker is as good a frame as the Mercian , I've bee trying to find out who made the frame, I know Stan Pike made frames for him but couldn't confirm if its one of his.
