Tubular Tires for Eroica?

I will participate at the Eroica Britannia this year with my 1960 BSA Golden fifty Racer. I am planning to put on some good strong tubulars suitable for the gravel roads.
I have so far found this two tires intresting, Challenge Paris Roubaix 27 mm and Challenge Strada Bianca 30 mm,
Your comments are welcome please?
Is there any other suitable tires out there?

Whatever you choose, take two spares with you.

Note the comment about frame size. This really applies mainly to modern bikes as the bike from the era you are riding usually had big clearances for mudguards, but best to check.

I use the 30mm clinchers as reviewed. one thing I would say is that they don't cope with thorns at all well. Well in comparison with my Michelins pro 4 SC's which are not now to be a robust tyre. They have coped with forestry tracks ok but I suspect I can't have done more than about 100 miles in total on such tracks. Tubs may be better but who knows?

I have used both the 30mm Strada Biancas and the 27mm Paris Roubaix tubs and they are both up to the job. The thing with the Biancas is that they are actually a tad over 30mm wide -- a bit more like a 31mm and a bit -- and like all tyres of this sort of size the depth of the tub has to be considered as it can foul the back of the seat tube when mounting, so you might have the clearance between the stays but may not be able to get it into the frame or it'll be damn tight to the brake bridge. The 27mm PR was adequate for Tuscany. Better tubs that you might want to consider are Dugast and FMB and they do 27mm, both of which I have, but they are considerably pricier. The real issue on those sorts of roads for puncture resistance is tub pressure and I think it needs to be higher rather than lower, but then I am not light. Yes, take two prestretched and glued spares, a can of sealant and enough CO2 bulbs for all eventualities.

Oh, and another thing. If you're going to use wider tubs then you might want to think about using wider sprint rims. Have you already decided on the rim?

Thansks for your kind replies, I dont think I will have any clearance problems on my old BSA, there is plenty of space for big tires!

I will use a set of wheels with NISI Solidal rims for this event, they are 20mm wide and should be well suited for the tire, Challange is specifying rim with 15-19mm for Strada Bianca and 13-19mm for the Paris Roubaix.

Did they make different size sprint rims for tubs? I thought they were all the same size?

most are 20, things like SSC, Nemesis and Synthesis were closer to 22, some of the TT specific one were under 20.

Learn something new every day . I've got quite a few pairs of sprints in the garage so might measure them.
