Cheers guess it's old school tubes then!I tried it using a modern Specialized Ground Control 2Bliss tyre,Tesa tape and Orange sealant. It went up but only on a compressor, and held air.On the first off road run I hit a rock with the sidewall, the tyre burped and came off the rim and lost all air and sealant. So it might work on a cycle track but not for more demanding terrain.
Is that a Stans kit rather than tubeless rim tape?Get a tubeless conversion strip.
Tubeless tape is designed for rims with tubeless features built in. Not normal hooked/hookless rims.
I'm amazed it worked at all.
I've got 117 and 217 to run perfectly and some early (and basic) mavic non-tubeless system wheels as well.
The ex has cheap, non-tubeless 29er rims running tubeless using the strip as well.
