Evening all,

Just picked up somne old Crossmax and have noticed the UST TUBELESS ONLY stickers dotted around them.

Now obviously this is presumably self explanatory. But can you use them with normal tyres and tubes? What are the side affects if any?

Thanks in advance for any knowledge.

:?

Evening Gus, good to see Sarah and your good self coming to HONC
I can't see why you couldn't use a tube, i sometimes run tubeless tyres on normal rims!
However im probably wrong and some expert will be along to put me right
You could always just go tubeless, thus eliminating the need for changing tyres all the time, and less punctures :D

I have non disc SL's. Mine also say UST tubeless !
They work fine with tubes. Mine have very lightweight tubes in them and no problems yet.

I dont enjoy changing tyres, i do do it quite a lot though (including mid ride the other month!)

Thanks fellas. Might try with normal then and maybe even try ust at some point.

Surely UST will still get punctures as there's air in there anyway?

Looking forward to honc heathy.

Hey Gus, the 'UST tubeless only' refers to the type of tyre that you have to use. The rim has been designed for UST tyres only as they attach differently to conventional tyres. There should be no problem using a tube in there.

Cheers

Hey steve, so no normal tyres then? There seem to be some folk saying they have run normal tyres...? Are they likely to come off or something do you think. ?

To prevent puncture with UST you need to fill them with a special liquid .

Just been searching and it seems that folk are using conventional tyres with UST rims with some success. Apparently as long as it is a tight enough fit it should inflate okay...
