Take some chilli oil with you....it tastes nice and it'll quieten those squealy pizza cuttersI will take my Monkey out for a cycle in about 20 min and report back if the pizza cutters are staying.
Yes! That's what my hands are happiest on.Just finished reading this which I think gives a good picture:

When you say old style aero levers, like from Campag, Shimano and Dia-Compe from the 90s when downtube shifters were the norm?
Yeah I see and read a lot of woe of retrofitting disc systems...both mine work great... loads of power and good progression just the mechanical ones....eurrgghh....ting ting ting ting does my head in! And then the huge shrieking wail at low speed ....oh the embarrassment and then the random baulky gritty howl from speed....pfffttt....it's pretty much my dream all steel gravel type thing lovely to ride bar the noises!Mickey - I think part of the problem is that it seems there's no rhyme or reason to why some disks don't work, so it's impossible to diagnose the problem.
The aforementioned MTB Hayes caliper was an entry level model back in the days, only has a single-piston adjusting mechanism and it relies on disk flex; it has seen 20 years of hard use, it's rusty, worn out but it still works. BB7 "road" or TRP spyres should in theory work with your levers.
Mechanically the two are probably as good as it gets, but in practice the road cable pull just does not seem to produce good results with them...
Monkey is happy..Is nearly ready. Spykes on, awaiting my profile crankset still, its stuck in Deutschland und das ist ein sehr grosse problem
