triple clamp forks on a hard tail??

I would be cautious putting tripple clamps on a "retro" hardtail frame - unless it was a Spooky metal head etc. It will certainly give a strangeriding posistion :?

sorry should have put it dont have to be a retro frame in fact prob better if not.
forks are 130 mm travel so most modern frames are set up for that legth as modern single crowns easily cover that travel

True most modern frames are built around the 120 - 140 but I'm sure not all have the needed strength around the HT to cope with the additional forces of a tripple clamp fork :?

Dont want to pi$$ on anyones parade - just don't want to see someone with a snapped HT  ;)

piss away me old mate lol
this is why im asking for opinions of what frame will strong enough (add to that im a fat git) so better to find out now rather that when my teeth are being pulled out of the tarmac

triple clamp=double crown fork??

Yup.

Triple clamp (Upper crown+lower crown+axle)

There's not really any more force applied to the headtube area by a TC fork than by a single crown. The difference is the location of the weak link. With single crown forks the steerer can bend saving the frame, with a TC fork it can't.

My cove stiffee will take em, http://www.silverfish-uk.com/products/154-cove_stiffee.php?r=3m4d0b2s0

ive got single crown pike 454 air u turns on though.... I use the bike for xc in the mountains round me, usually from 3 to 8 hr rides. Its a revelation after my rc200 f3 with rc35's ive suffered for the past 12 years. Ive split the side walls on 3 back tyres now in the last 3 weeks cos im riding so much faster, one was a 2.3, the others 2.1's - gonna get bigger tyres when i get paid :)
