The clear coat has had a few days to dry so tonight I have put the frame back together and fitted an old RockShox monarch shock which I had of another bike plus I had the new custom made bushings to put in too. it’s quite a contrast between the polished rear and the painted Y but I think once I have the polished headset on and the forks it will all tie in

Not too much to add visually as I’m waiting on loads of parts!
but I did pick up a bargain £10 headset new from Planet X, also a carbon brake booster (not sure if I’m using) and xtr front mech arrived

Well the bike is starting to take shape and I had a little mock up, forks are a bit of a headache as I’m really not sure what would look best at the moment!

From my experience with that frame, you might want to consider something with a bit more offset? I nearly went over the bars a few times when I had on a set of FSX

Is that because the head angle was too steep?
I did look at buying those forks that you had on this bike but they’re quite a short fork so I was going to make the front end too low and the head angle too steep, I have the offset bushings in the shock which has slackened it by 1 degree plus if I extended the pace to 90mm it will slacken it that but more too!
do you think this would improve it ?

The rear end feels surprisingly stiff and with the Rockshox monarch on it really does feel quite smooth! I’m really hopeful I can make a nicer rider out of this one

Had some time to my self today so I thought I would make an effort to start building the bike properly, so forks striped down and serviced with new seals, oil and extended to 90mm, wheels tightened up and new xt cassette fitted and sram chain, I also fitted some new race king tyres too!
I couldn’t resist getting the luggage scales out and was pleasantly surprised as there isn’t really anything that heavy to go on now yet. So as it stands 19.6 lbs or 8.8kg, definitely think I can build it for around 21 and definitely under 22lb not bad for a 1996 full sus , I also measured the head angle at 69 degrees buzzing with how it’s going

Cool, thats some transformation this frame has had over the last few years.
It started out at over 26lb in its original form, then I shaved a bunch off but put most of the weight back on with a heavy set of Spins so she sat at 25lb before Maggy harvested her.
