Trek - Cunningham/WTB

Something in my hazy memory tells me that CC or WTB designed a Trek frame - anyone tell me more? Model number or year would be a good start...

Mr K

Yes, with Rollercams and Type II. Somewhere around '87. Has been covered on MTBR VRC years ago and without any doubt some could inform you extensively on it but maybe they won't as they prefer to keep everthing for themselves or hide it behind passwords.

I'm guessing that the Trek Team Replica was of their 1986 WTB/Trek race team bike, as the timeline suggests that there was a Cunningham Race Team for 1987. Maybe the Trek association only lasted through 1986/7 then - can't be many of these bikes around... Interesting that they don't feature on the Vintage Trek site.

Dug out the VRC threads (written in more innocent, generous times, mind ;-) ):

Did you ever get any more info on these Neil? Looks like a very interesting bike!

VRC ain't the kind of place for genial assistance these days and, as I suspect the 1987 WTB team never made it outside the US concept of the 'world', I guess the trail runs cold (until I get to NorCal).... :)

I vaguely remember seeing one of these for sale on ebay a few years back. hmmmm, really wish I could remember specifically- it was blue with some white or something like that.

I'll do some search when I get home.

Mombat's info is a tiny bit misleading which is probably causing you to assume that the 87 bike is a replica of the 86 bike. In 87 the bike was the WTB-Trek Team bike, not a "replica" as mombat states. 87 was the only year they rode the Trek.

to my knowledge there has not been one listed on ebay. 99.76% sure I would have been alerted to it through the usual network(s), just as I was here. :)
