Trek 970 - Aberdeen

Just found this on eBay....an early 90's Matrix stem as was found on those lovely Trek bikes.
It's in Germany, but not too expensive, would be a good match for the bike.

Sadly doesn’t have the right cable routing for the front brake to go through the stem. But appreciated anyhow keeping a look out

Well that’s all the non retro gubbins removed… apart from zoom stem. The bike feels slot lighter non

Thought I’d start a restoration here to document my 1991 Trek 970 rebuild.

This all started 2-3weeks ago when a fellow retro biker (Walterscot) spotted a mint 970 on Gumtree. Turned out it was very local to me here in Aberdeenshire. Here’s the original thread documenting its discovery, history and swift purchase by me.
