Trek 8900 owners

XT FDs have also been fitted with the doohickey (sorry, but I don't know the proper terminology). I have one on my FRO. I remember you can get it from old road calipers....

Lemme rack my brain on your options.

see the barrel adjuster in the upper right corner of this photo? It's the piece that the barrel adjuster threads into that you need. That piece will then thread right into your FD cable fixing spot and your housing will run right to that.

I think this is it: http://www.amazon.com/BRAKE-PART-ADJUST ... B0047M95PI

I had looked to see if the doohickey can be moved between mech it makes sence that it can. Every day is a school day. Now looking for M950 from mech.

Well my 8900 is fully built and a bit muddy. It has a complete XT m950/1 groupset pace rigid forks and weighs 9.5kg.

I posted a pic a while back in the readers ride section but that pic is the old spec with an XT groupset.

I really need a new pic with mud of course.

As good as this bike is it is still not as quick as my modern 29er's. Still enjoyable to ride but one I use in the dry mostly due to that cassette.
