Good luck with the sale but next time try and think about your audience, you wouldn't try and sell a mass produced replica Ming dynasty tea cup for real ming value to the Duke! Cos he'd spot your blunder and reply with "cheap as chips that". This is Retrobike and I may be no expert there are many who are.

Why not put it on ebay @ 99p start (with a realistic reserve) you will generate a rolling interest therefore increasing the odds of somebody paying more for it as they become ebroiled in a heated bidding war for your prized stallion of a bike.

Yeah but it's a known fact that mud adds authenticity and therefore increases value at least another say £500 or so I'd say.

Maybe he could buy some genuine Mt Tam mud on ebay . Spread it on the tyres , jobs a good un . That would bump the price up SP !

You could split the bike. ie, sell the frame and forks separate to the components, there are lots of buyers on here who would have the xtr/xc pro.
