Touch screen mobiles

Having recently done the phone upgrade thing i'd avoid Nokia the OS is chronically out of date and the touchscreen on the X6 I has was as sensitive as Bernard Manning.

Windows based ones I've tried were not very user friendly nor intuitive (and resource hungry)

In the end i went for the HTC Desire and very happy i am too - very user friendly and easy to use.

The ubiquitous i phone is the other main contender but costs a fair old bit more.

The N8 uses the newest version of Symbian^3, also the touchscreen has been improved a lot since the X6 according to the reviews I've read on the N8

I use Android on a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Great OS but the phone is now on its third battery due to battery sudden death syndrome.

I've got an HTC Desire HD and had an HTC Magic before that, both on Android and both really good phones.

The Desire has really really impressed me, it seems a bit big at first but then makes all other phones you use seem too small to be practical! If it is too big for you then the Legend is a good bet too...

Apple are way more expensive for something not that much or perhaps any better, I can't speak about Nokias or Sonys but then I haven't had to because I'm perfectly happy with my HTC!!!

HTC Desire, hands down. I owned a windows phone and was shocked at how slow and messy it felt. A friend of mine got the HTC Desire before and I fell in love with it. It looks classy, is quite intuitive and has a bunch of neat functions.

i was going to say that. went on one today, wasnt massively impressed but thats because my phone does everything and this one was factory new, oh how i wanted to plant my mark on it

I was of the opinion that touch screen phones would just be a "gimmick" and I was convinced I would never have a phone without buttons

Mrs P has had 2 iphones from their first release and now has a 4

I sat on the sofa one night playing with it, and within a half hour was round at tesco dropping just over £400 quid on them for a 32gb at £20 a month for 12 months..............

I subsoquently (sp), I get the hand me down, and Mrs P has a shiney new 32gb

Im so SO impressed with the build quality and feel of the iphone4, not had any reception probs at all either.

The screen is second to none and the os is fantastic!

I was a religious Nokia /SonyEriccson user for the past7-8 years,

I feel they have a lot to catch up on regarding the simpicity of use of the iphone and the apps that are available (nokia ovi store is PATHETIC  )

I bought an Otterbox Defender case for my iphone for when out on the bike, looks indestructable!!

And to add, I have never been a Steve Jobs "fan boy" , just seen the light ;)

Gc

I've got a HTC desire - the standard one - and I love it, can only imaging the HD version would be better. Speaker is a little weak and "noisey" at high volumes though.

Iphone is more "user friendly" (idiot proof?) and the iphone 4 video stuff is really nice.

Not tried windows7 phones.
