I can see why the OP came to his conclusion......looking into the retro bike market from an outside perspective, must seem a confusing world of overpriced old tat.....bought by sad old people on a nostalgia trip........why pay £250 for a pair of "old" wheels with an obsolete braking system or £650 for a 1984 bike wreck!
As we are apparently the last social economic group with any money left ( those over 60), why not try to sell us something that looks in good condition and is old ( our usp as such) for good money. Sound like it makes sense.
If he had been offering up a perfect team issue marin, we would have all been bitching about who got it first!
Yes....he could have asked a value first, and yes....it would be nice if people didn't just joint to sell us stuff, but for an answer to that i go back to the above example!
Just because this is not a bargain, its a bit foolhardy to ridicule people for a lack of knowledge, who may in the long term help us out .
