Sorted Top nut for Campag Athena headset

Is the bit I need called the "lock nut" rather than the "top nut"?

Something going on here. I have an Athena headset from the early 90s, but the top lock nut is different to the one in the pics posted earlier. Yours look like it needs a washer under it, mine doesn’t have the same shape on the underside.

I’m struggling to keep mine tight (have big headset spanners, tried PTFE) but I’m not sure if the top nut offered here will work. Also I just noticed that the one in the link above has a washer under the lock nut. Mine doesn't, could that be a reason why mine's working it's way undone all the time?

That’s a different era Athena headset you have indeed. I have the locknut washer that inserts into the underside of the locknut which you can have too. Provided your top bearing race is flat on the top it should lock properly.

The weird thing is my forks don't have the channel for a tab washer... I guess I'll have to file the tab off the washer I'm getting has one.
