If only I was, considering the prices some of the sellers charge. Punters even travel across Europe to be there for the snow drop sale – they're even more obsessive, even more than Retrobikers! No, I go with a list of say 5 I'm looking for and a strict budget max of £75. We're slowly and modestly amassing a collection. Part of the attraction of the event is witnessing the bizarre and surreal spectacle of frenzied people in a car park where the buying and selling taking place and finishing in well under 15 minutes. A few high profile specialists – like W.S. Lockyers – attend it, snapping up the choiciest specimens. After the event, me and my missus walk around the grounds of the House which includes woodland/meadows where there are breathtaking drifts of naturalised snow drops. Just awesome.

Yep. The snow drop collectors are way more obsessive than us mere mortal Retrobikers. And that's just the snow drops – there are even way more rarified levels of plant collectors... I'm fine with mostly the bike tinkering and looking for components, although I do indulge in a bit of horticulture too. For me, it's the antidote to all the nonsense that comes with spending 8 hours a day in a communications department dealing with technology and awkward clients and management structures.

I think it should be with old bikes as with old horses !

even the ones you don't use much anymore or which have been replaced with better "studs" should have a right for a safe "harbor" , so I don't sell these but places them in a "retirement home"

and the youngsters are happy when they go there !

luckily , the family country home has a big space :mrgreen:
