Had a nice slice of retro in my workshop today. This is a low end Al Carter Timber Trail from around 1991/1992. Still with it's original owner after over twenty years and in great condition if you ignore the rusting spokes.
The owner told me he bought it new for £285 back in the early nineties. It has Exage Country cantis and an Exage 300LX drivetrain but with the STI's replaced with thumbshifters. It's also still shod with the original Cheng Shin amberwall tyres also in as new condition. Sakae 'gooseneck' stem and big wide Alesa alloy rims. But it's the splatter paint job and fluorescent decals that really make it.

Just fantastic.

I'm not sure whether I love it or hate it.

It evokes memories of being 13 and looking and lusting in bike shops. That has to be cool.
Thanks for the memories.

Re:

May be a low rent bike , but I like it too . Can't beat a black skinny tubed steel bike IMO .
Nice to have a workshop with a panoramic view too !

I have several retro bikes a month come through the workshop where I work. Will have to start a thread with pics (if I remember my camera   ).

As I recall, a certain Mr Cheese has a bit of a thing for Al Carter bikes, he'll be all over this like Cathedral City on toast.

I was thinking the same thing Neil. He'll be taking out a second mortgage when he see's this.
