to steal or not to steal?

think of it as a little puppy, looking up at you with little puppy dog eyes, chained to a rail outside a shop, getting thinner and thinner and weaker, making little whimpering noises soooo close to death now, imploring you to rescue it, and to love it,

would you leave a little puppy dog to die, you heartless b*&^*$d, technically a puppy is property also, take the bike or i'm on the next plane over, its bike cruelty, just coz there aint a law against it doesnt make it right,

save the bike for gods sake man!!

So there I was, unemployed after my employer went bust, loving my old Cindercone that I've had from new. However I couldn't afford to rebuild her, and the landlord won't let me keep her in my rented flat.

Then I get run over by a car and spend three months in hospital. When I get out I find my trusted companion has been stolen....

Can it get any worse?
:?

There are enough people here who have had stuff taken by thieving scumbags. Just because you want to play with it rather than buy heroin does it really make the theft any less of a crime?

so life is shit and your on your way to throw yourself off brooklyn bridge, when you see a bike similar to the one you owned and loved, but its all shiny and in perfect working order, but wait it is your bike, you go up to the man and explain your circumstances, he gets off the bike and gives it to you, giving you a few dollars in change at the same time, with your luck beginning to change you buy a lottery ticket, and win the jackpot!!

life is good, and they all live happily ever after, the end

STEAL THE BIKE!!, I mean rescue the bike!!

Leave it where it is.

If you take it, you'll always know how it came into your possession, and you'll always be wondering when someone will tap you on the shoulder and say 'Oi that's my bike your riding!'

Here's a little saying that may be apt: 'When there is doubt, there is no doubt.' And, you obviously have doubts otherwise you'd have already been away with it.

see its not even theft if he gives it back when asked.lol

"A person shall be guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it."

well under british law

oh the joys of wiki

"A finder of property acquires no rights in mislaid property, is entitled to possession of lost property against everyone except the true owner, and is entitled to keep abandoned property.[1] This rule varies by jurisdiction.[2]

"Property is generally deemed to have been abandoned if it is found in a place where the true owner likely intended to leave it, but is in such a condition that it is apparent that the true owner has no intention of returning to claim the item. Abandoned property generally becomes the property of whoever should find it and take possession of it first, although some states have enacted statutes under which certain kinds of abandoned property – usually cars, wrecked ships and wrecked aircraft – escheat, meaning that they become the property of the state"

see its not even stealing

The bike is locked up.. If you get caught cutting the locks.. guess what, you'll be done for theft.. because you are stealing the bike.

Its just an old cindercone.. not worth the hassle. Go buy one off ebay.

But that would only be the case if the owner could be traced, i mean, if you explained to old plod, say you had lost the keys and so had ot cut it, then the worse that would happen (if owner wasnt forthcoming) is that they would keep hold of it for a certain time, and then it would be yours then anyway.

There's an old saying somewhere -

"Thou shall not......."

Something like that anyway. Can't remember for the devil in me where I saw it though ;)
