Titanium Spa Audax

If you want great value, caliper is king🤴
Cantilever is a bit more sellable, so raises the price a little.
We are being offered 3 times as many caliper brake high end bikes as what we can sell atm.

I hear you. Do you think it is just a fashion thing ?

Discs are better brakes.
Stronger, more progressive braking, less wear, cleaner wheels, lower maintenance.

On the negative side, they need frame and fork redesign, stiffer fork, they weigh more, cost more and are less user friendly to maintain.

There's an oversupply of bikes both new and used atm, so that means rim-braked bikes are
An absolute bargain.
Just ask @Woz 😃

What this means is of you wanted to buy a used tourer for under £500, you could choose between an outstanding rim braked bike (like this one) or a very mediocre disc model.

I only need killer brakes in town and off road - good rim brakes are all you really need for most tourers.

I did put a disc on our (personal) touring tandem after 20 years of xt cantis (drop bar/sti)

That's a great improvement - a loaded tandem at 40mph+ takes some stopping!
