They are made from pure Titanium, which is brittle in comparison and they have a tendancy to come apart at the welds (or where they're glued together at the lugs).
I speak from experience!!
I couldn't understand why my chain would always rub on the front mech cage, and always blames myself for the set up. I soon realised that it was actually set up perfectly and the frame was flexing that much!!
Plus, Raleigh ripped me off. I ordered the 3/2.5 framed model and they changed the spec and colour on me to pure Ti imported from Russia.
I'm currently thinking of selling my MT5 - superior in every way to the MT4 as it uses "metal matrix" not ti for the main tubes. I'll be interested to see how much this MT4 goes for on ebay...
Oh yh, and bonding issues certainly arent only Raleigh - Alan frames are notorious for dodgy joints....
If I remember, dynatech wher made with the main with titanium horizontal and diagonal tubes. The lugs and the rear triangles of the frame were made in steel… :?
that was true for the lower-end models. The MT5, however, must hold the record for most different materials in one frame - alu lugs, metal matrix main tubes, cro-mo seat stays and titanium chainstays. Nuts.

Someone snapped this up for £62, not a bad buy considering the thumbies are probably worth £15 on their own.
Decided not to go for it in the end – £60 is OK, but who knows what the next bid would've needed to be. Besides its a 16.5" and would've been a bit too small for me.
1992 models:
MT3 = titanium main tubes 2125 frameset, CrMo rear triangle
MT4 = titanium main tubes 2125 frameset, ti chainstay, MnMo seatstay
M-Trax Ti models (at least my Ti4000 from 1994) had titanium top and
diagonal tube with CrMo seat tube. I think this frameset was also used for
certain Dyna-Tech frames too, known as 2120 frameset.
