Titanium frame repair - recommendations?

Why do ti frames crack in the weld?

1995 DBR Diamond Back Axis TT. Mine seems an odd failure, I can't think why there'd be that much stress to fail at that point and not somewhere else. Maybe too large a tubing gap before they welded?

Check this thread out - it doesn't always fail at the welds...

Oxygen contamination during welding - the alloy that actually melts in the welding process becomes way more brittle.

I've always covetted ti...think I'll stick with steel now though.

Being fair, it is a 1995 frame. Plenty of broken steel frames around. Usually cheaper to mend though.

I've got a 2006 Ti inbred with a way bigger crack than either of those :?
Not generally any fault with the material just shonky welding.
I think the area around the weld needs to be purged of Oxygen and then flooded with Argon?
Hoping mine will be fixed shortly

Got a 1994 - 1996 Parkpre Pro Elite that had a repair job done (as when I received the frame) in exactly the same place as your DBR.
