If any can help me out with taking these forks apart and how to service then that would be great.

They seem to very simular to the Trek DS forks, so if you lots about these let me know.

Cheers all.

Hi all just pick my new project and wanted to know about these forks but Google is no help this time. Only reference I can find was that Raleigh RSP used them around 1993.

HELP...

main.php

Well there air forks, do I take them apart or not? If I do how do I take them apart and what will to find inside. I have services modern forks but nothing this old.

Any one help with this.

Cheers Brian.

Cheers for that, any idea what sort of pressure these run at. Just checking for leaks.

Has anyone taken forks similar to these apart that can point me in the right direction.

Do you think TF or Mojo etc will have any ideas?

Cheers Brian.

The DDS3 and later Mogul forks are made by Showa and set-up and service help (though never done or tried) I can give.

Now...

Tioga are Tange Struts apparently
We have
1993 Struts
1994 Race Struts, Struts-S, Struts G-S
the problem we have is they are all elastomers.

Possibly these are not Tioga or they are later ?
and Showa's of some sort.
so
Oil heights change between models and rider weight.
But pressure stay pretty constant
<140lb 30 to 38psi
140-180lb 35-42psi
>180lb 42-45psi

My head really hutrs at the moment and I need to get to work so more later if needed.
(You pretty much do this to service...completely fill them with oil. Cap them off. Hit them hard and use the oil to push everything out.)

So I have sent Tioga, loco TF and Mojo emails to see if any one has any info on these forks.

The slow and steady dismantling is still going on and a few more pics for info.

Top of the air valve has a pull out adjuster and two very small ball bearing under it.

I have removed one of the stanchion dust seals and under that is a C clip. I guess I remove this C clip to get the lower of the stanchion?

A few more detail on this would be great.

Cheers Brian.

when you remove the c-clip from the slider you should bee able to seperate the slider stancion ,it might need some force to remove it tho
this is assuming you've removed the damper rod, bottom screw or whatever holds it all together
you might find that any bushes on the stancion will try to remove the seal
,tho i have never delved to that level in these , just refreshed the oil
one , the ball bearings are probably detents for an adjuster

a simple fork built on motorcycle design ,not suprising really as showa
build a lot of motorcycle stuff and were hondas "tame " suspension gurus
