Finally binned those cheap-ass Walmart cranks. Managed to find a vintage Suntour X-1 triple on eBay - was a little scuffed up but nothing a can of black paint couldn't fix. Not the best spray job in this Georgia humidity but the little Offroad is no garage queen, spending most of its time living in the forest amongst the dust and pollen - definitely a hillbilly workhorse 
I'll eventually replace the cheap front mech 'chain guide' with something decent or maybe a Girvin Rock Ring
Ditched the creaky bar brace too - I'm sure it's not really necessary on motorcycle bars for a bantam like me
