Time Atac SNAP!

I've been using Time Atac pedals since 1998 - firstly on my mountain bike then kept using them on all my bikes since - basically 'coz I was too tight to buy another pair of shoes...Anyway, I looked down this morning to find this...

I don't even think I've had a bearing replaced in any of my Time pedals so this was a surprise. Still seemed to click on and out alright but I'm not taking any chances. Never heard of a Time Atac snap before? Unless you know different.

Yeah, those ones with the stamped retainer jaw did snap *very* occasionally.

Usually after several years/thousands of miles and a lot of abuse.
I've seen two or three, but not snapped one of my own.

Re:

Got one with a slightly bent spindle bit I use the less posh Alium ones and never snapped a retainer .

Re:

Yes they'll probably have done tens of thousands of quite clarty miles in their time but it's back to the Aliums for the minute. Even second hand Atac's seem to be quite expensive - compared to Shimano efforts at least.

Think the aliums use the one piece spring retainer, not the separate one like this. The spring ones last until they wear through. I'm still using one pair that have lost about 30% of the spring thickness on the RHS (my clipping in and out foot)

Re:

I had a look to see if I could cannibalise a spring from an old Alium to the knackered Atac Xs(?) but they're totally different unfortunately.

However looks like they do a full range of spares - at a price! $25 for the part I need - although it's currently out of stock and I can't imagine the postage would be cheap!
