Thrift shop ritchey

Probably an 87, not finding a ton of info out there. The Ascent described in this article isn't a bad match ... Tig welded 4130 ... XT rd and Deore fd ... Cranks don't match but otherwise... Maybe? Should be fun to ride anyway.
Article mentions the Ascent not having rack eyelets.

Ask for 50 off
Haha I gave him 50 extra. So, a $250 frame and a $150 donation. That's my story and I'm sticking to it ;)

Fancy frame. Very light, delicate forks. Nifty ovalized seat tube. So I guess these were the early days of his collaboration with Tange?

Went for a ride today, it's running well actually. Needs a front brake, stem, and shifters to bring it back to spec. Wheels are ridiculously heavy and rims are about beat, I have plans for those things. Don't want to paint it but may have to eventually.

Ah someone finally noticed ... Guy (my age) hollers out from across the street, what's that, a Gary Fisher? A Ritchey??? Turns out he used to run a BIG bike shop in New York. He gave me this tool. And also half an XT canti. Says he will gimme the other half, too, if he can find it

Apparently the Paragon had a similar paint scheme. Probably painted by the same dude I imagine

to me it's rather the Procaliber resp. Supercaliber which had 88-90 a bit of an similar paint job, just with black rear.

Not sure if those are Ritchey made still, as GF has started with 1983 Montare to outsource production to Japan step-by-step.

Interesting! Kinda cool what a tight community it was bitd

I thought this bash guard was ridiculous but he said that's *very* period. He says these Scott brakes had high tech, somehow keep a constant toe in no matter how hard you brake. And he digs the magura levers, says he used em on all his custom builds

Not sure I'm gonna do much to the bike other than polish and wax
