Threading an air can?

On my search for various LTS/STS parts I saw this.

I've seen conversion kits which look fugly but I've never seen an old fox float air can thread with a trunion mount fitted from a cannondale jekyl.

So....is this safe? I tempted to try it as have a few old floats. Machine shop should cost the same as teh fugly adaptors and this looks neater.

No idea if it's safe to thread an air can, but I've got a jekyll shock fitted to my sts, though modification of the trunnion is needed. I have a spare fox shock and a manitou version from a jekyll if you wanted to go down that route instead of perhaps wrecking a good shock?
