Hi to all,
I'm selling my Thorn Brevet Special.
It's a stunning looking bike and rides as good as it looks.
The paint has a few very small corrosion spots, mainly caused by stone chips. Surprisingly, underneath the top tube is the worst area. If I were doing it, I'd ride it for the Spring/Summer and then take it on or, leave it as is. If I could provide better photos of sufficient quality to show it, they'd be on here. I did try but, tbh, they just blurred out. I'm probably being a bit over critical but I've always set out to give an entirely honest and comprehensive description as I can, warts and all.
More importantly, there are no dents, scrapes or damage to the frame and forks.
Stem and seat post both move freely.
SP is 50 cm C2C, TT is 53 cm C2C, head tube is 11 cm.
Reynolds 531 Designer Select frame and Reynolds 531 forks.
Lee Cooper frame. The number is: LA 8899.
700c Mavic MA2 wheels with Shimano Deore LX hubs. (will take up to a 28 mm tyre on these rims with these mudguards).
Blackburn MTN rack.
3 x 8 speed set up.
Shimano Deore LX rear derailleur, Suntour XCE front derailleur.
ITM Special handlebars.
Shimano bar end shifters, indexed and friction.
Selle San Marco Rolls saddle.
Shimano brake levers with Shimano RX100 side pull brakes.
Panaracer tyres.
SKS long mudguards.
Shimano Exage triple touring chain set. Also recently had a new chain and cassette.
Flat pedals.
Nice head set and BB.
1 x Thorn water bottle cage and does have braze-ons for an additional two more.
Lastly, an Ergon stem which, yes I know does nothing for the looks but it's actually a really good bit of kit.
Shifts beautifully and is a lovely well balanced light tourer.
The original owner did LeJog on it which was some feat.
Cash on collection please from the GL2 area of Gloucestershire.
£220.
