Thomson elite seatpost. Are they retro?

Hi guys. I'm building a 2002 kona stab primo to period spec. I'm trying to find a seatpost to fit the age of this bike and I was wondering how old are Thomson seat posts? I know they still make them now but when were they first released? Would one look out of place on a 2002 bike??

The elite seatpost first appeared in 1995:

(although it might well have looked different to current models)

Thomson's gear is understated enough that it fits in with most bikes though.

klein adroits came with thomson seatpost as stock around 97, so 2002 wouldnt be an issue re period correct
