Hi All,

Any one else lucky enough to catch some snow this weekend?!

Took me nearly 2 hours riding to do about 9 miles, but it was fun though :)

One thing I did notice as this was the first snow ride with my SIDs is how less temperature sensitive air springs are - my Manitous used to lock up about 30 mins into a snow ride but the SIDs kept their spring all the way round!

Hope your all having a good 2008 so far!!

Sweeeeet !

Riding in the right snow is quite nice actually. If it's the right consistancy it's actually quite grippy, and makes a lovely sound as your tires crush the thin layer of frost at the top of it. There's nothing better to clean tires too! :D

I remember when I was living near Switzerland as a teenager the first thing I'd do if it'd snowed overnight was to get out on my bike (bmx at the time) to get a ride on the snow.

Not quite snow, but I had a great ride in similar nice clear crisp, sunny weather today. Here the ground was mostly white, but it was from a thick accumulation of heavy frosts.

By the time I got out, the morning sun had softened the very top layer of the frozen mud a little, and the burns & ditches I crossed on the way were all flowing clear.

Is it just me that much prefers riding in nice clear cold weather to hot sunny days? I know the same ride on a sunny day can be beautiful, but much less pleasant for me. I suppose cleaning the bike after a dry summertime ride is easier though :)

I like the side on one the best, with the sun burning out straight at the camera. Pic 3?

Your call though, get it in before it closes.

:D

Nice day for it :)

Wish we had some snow here, did 42 miles on nasty icy roads instead :(

Pic 1 has a certain something about it :)

It's probably not just you but, for me, give me some warmth on my old bones any day :)

Photo 1, btw - the texture on the ice is what makes it ;)

Am I the only one wondering why a 4 year old post has been resurrected? Mainly drawn my attention as also live in glos and certainly have had no snow this year!!
