Omg I forgot about the exact same problem I had and the odd set up - I settled for the Shimano compromise but clearly with your level of pain tolerance and perseverance I’m expecting a brilliant if left field solution from yah!

It depends on how Anal I want to be...I can get a later High clamp Sram derailleur from the early 2000's but that's not really in the spirit of the game is it May have to settle on that for the York show but there must me a high clamp 9.0 out there somewhere

I have one but this one won't work with a ring in the 44 tooth range.

That or I don’t know how to adjust it so it does work.
