The unexpected purchase, late 90's Piton Dedacciai SC 6110A

Good Evening
My latest unexpected frame acquisition a Piton made of Dedacciai SC6110A from the late 90's. The craftmanship on it is outstanding and it is a new old stock frame. Piton is an italian brand founded by Pitozzi Guido in 1975. The frame weight only 1.3kilos The modern Piton collection is essentially composed of carbon frames even tough they made a nice steel model in 2015 for the 40 th anniversary of the brand

me too, especially if it is a well made frame with high end tubing and with poslished welds

1 inch so I will have to chase for a inch carbon fork either from Ritchey or Time or Reynolds

I like steel a lot since I have a lot steel frames but my aluminium made MTBs proved me that well made aluminium frame MTB can last decades. That is why I decided to buy some alumnium road bike frames, this one was very attractively priced as was my Trek 2300 compared to my Veneto including its replacement fork costs and the Cannondale CAAD4. A high end steel frame can cost a lot of $$$$ if you take prestigious names with the most prestigious steel tubings, on my end the ones I bought, I did some very good deals because I always hunted for the rare and the unknown or even lesser known brands. As for titanium frames , there are three brands that I like Cyfac, Pilorget and Passoni on which the welds are polished and are above Merlin, Moots, Litespeed in terms of craftsmanship. Carbon framed bikes, I have ridden some but it felt bad for me and my back.

my experience with Reynols was not pleasant on my Merlin(usa . the compression from a cane creek headset caused a circular indent and ruined the fork after a couple years. i have looked at the new ritchey 1" fork in the past year, and that would be my pick with a chris king headset.

Unfortunately the Chris King brand is banned for all my projects, because it damaged badly the Daccordi I had causing a crack in the head tube during its intsallation, for the note I bought this Chris King headset in second hand and it was described as in very good condition.For this one, I might go with a Campy Chorus headset. In terms of fork, I like the Ouzo Comp better since it is made in the USA. I don't know where the Ritchey is made to be honest but for the price it has to be made in the USA, but I have a much better alternative, the Time Equipe Pro Carbon fork . I already have a Time Equipe carbon fork on my Peugeot Prestige since 15 years and it has been flawless.
