The Skua Debate....

Ringle Holey look the best I reckon. Got them on all my bikes.

...but work sh*t.

Salsa's just worked brilliantly due to plastic cam thing.

Salsa's definietely my fave skewer for performance overall.

Middleburns were rubbish. I had a set of blue ones which when combined with a Pace fork with no lawyer tabs = one busted shoulder, dented bike and a long walk home.
:(

control tech for looks (i've always preferred allen key skewers for looks)

shimano QR for an off road rider

generic allen key for town bikes

I use Cooks on my Seven but have adapted them slightly by replacing the shitty cam with a nice smooth brass one from Hope (also top skewers, just not bling enough for the Seven).

I also have Ringle holey on the Manitou (of course) and the Fat Ti and they are pants if you use em as Cam skewers but are great as twisty ones. I've got American Classic on the Roberts that are great but hard on the hands, I've got Salsa on the salsa which I love as the lever is so long.

Favourites are the original WTB ones as the handles were so long and easy to operate, Shimano and Campag (although campag had stupid dimples on the handle that hurt my delicate hands), and shoot me down, the Fisher/Trek spoon shaped skewer as it was so big and easy to use!

Salsa on all bikes including my modern (except the 1990 bike, which has Campag MTB ones, sweeet), cos they work the best, and look the bestest too. the end. please lock thread.

For style and bite I like Mavics - the proper Simplex-style ones with the enclosed cam.

There's something really pleasingly clunky about the old XT and XC Pro levers with the rubber grip ring and plastic lever cover though. Now that my old Stumpjumper is getting her thumbshifters back, I'll be installing those skewers to match, and a seatpost QR if I can find one.

I've always liked the look of Tune. Something about the minimalist forged titanium wire lever combined with the funky anodized ends makes them look like something a former cold-war aeroplane factory would start producing in 1992.
