I know, but it can be turned back to have v-brakes if required, it had crappy deore v-brakes and the disc set was hanging up in the garage gagging to be fitted. Any ideas on value anyone please?.

Hi John
About £150-200 at a guess. If it is original, I would urge you not to split it. But you pays the money, you takes the choice.
Cheers
Tim

Thanks for the reply Tim, Here's an image of the bike in as found condition.....

Not having any interest in a GT Corrado frame/forks, so I wonder if I'm asking too much?

16" C-C, 18" C-T, 21.25"/540mm TT. Original paint, very minor chips down to what looks like light usage only; no dents. Paint is a lovely red, almost a slight orange base to it that doesn't show in the pics. Unfortunately missing the front Groove Tube cable fitting and the cable noodles for around the seat tube but shouldn't be too difficult to sort. Includes NOS top pull FD-M651 front mech (not pictured).

Rough reckoning? Is it the missing Groove Tube fitting that's causing a problem does anyone think?

whats a girvin flexstem worth these days?

got a grey one in reasonable nick kicking around, bout 120mm long i think...

Evening all,

Having to sell my RC200 F3 frame as I'm just not using due to two knackered knees (and a failed op). The frame was re-sprayed in white about 10 years ago by Argos. It has the usual marks around the chain stay etc, and I had planned to list it at £200 ONO. However having got it out of my shed today it would appear a large area of the down tube has oxidised with the paint coming off. I've cleaned some of it up and it polishes up fine.

So what do the Retrobike gods think its worth in its current condition or is it time to get the Nitromors out? Or can anyone recommend a good cheap (I know they don't really go together) powder coater in the Leeds area. If I was keeping it I would use Bob Jackson to get it sprayed, but at £90 its a bit pointless when I'm selling it.

Ive attached a pic of the worse bit. and of how it looked built up.

It includes the anti chain suck fins, seat clamp and chain guard as well as a BB and headset.

Thank you in advance and sorry for the long post

looks like no etch-primer was used, i would try gun wash or thinners to see if the paint is easy to remove. a frame that needs painting has a much smaller market, i.e. people who can budget a respray into the frame cost, or people that can paint.
the price of a respray will probably be returned to you in the higher sale price....and would probably be much quicker to sell!
i wish it was my size!!!

What size are you? its an 18"

I see your point. Do you think stripping and polishing will add the same value as a full respray? Or maybe somewhere in between?

Thank you for the advice so far :)

I´ve got many things i don´t need and i would like to ask for your help to see how much can i ask for them.

I have bought a fancy new Trek EX8 and I can't see my trusty 1996 Trek 8000 seeing much use any more so I thought I'd ask to see what you guys thought it could be worth.

The bike is in superb condition having been carefully ridden over the last 17 years. The bike has been upgraded to XT 739 throughout with the exception of the V brakes which are XT 750 it also has Rockshox Judy T2 long travel forks, the wheels are Mavic 221 on XT hubs with Panaracer fire road xc tyres. I'm the original owner and still have all the documentation and the original rigid forks and the original smoke/dart amber wall tyres. The frame is unbelievable for its age bike with very few touch ups, no chain suck, it looks a very clean design as it was from the Trek bonded era.
