** Close Encounter!! **

a UFO landed in my living room today! 8)
thought i'd try something a little different and give the old 1300 a rest from duty.
picked this up from a friend down in Cornwall, it's warming up as i type this! :D
lovely build quality, nice touches like the illuminated lid rest, and looks amazing (although probably in marmite category in that respect!)
and, it comes in its own flight case!!
here are a couple of pics:

i remember these when they landed! mental looking. i would love to see whats inside it, and what sort of sum did you have to part with for it? 7k new wasnt they? whats the sound like? the power supply looks like it has a transport on the top! crazy stuff.

the BAT

for a CD player, it's actually pretty close to putting an LP on!

but, this machine, along with the latest acquisition that arrived today, is giving me the most 'high-end' sounds i've ever had in all the years i've pursued this 'hobby'

and, for the first time, everything is connected using balanced out/inputs

the BAT pre is something else, without doubt my best hifi buy ever, and the sounds i've been listening to tonight are simply superb........ ambience, presence, layers, imaging, speed, timing, placement,,,,,, it's all there

to say i'm pleased would be something of an understatement!

here are few pic of its innards and all 10 of those lovely bottles! 8)

Back to the Audiolab bit. Turns out the 8000PX I swapped a NAD amp for has a dicky left channel that falls out periodically. Anyone have an idea if this is an easy fix to do with a loose RCA plug connection to the circuit board or if it's likely to be something more serious?

Most probably it's a dry joint on the connector. Sadly the only way to solve it is to dismantle and retouch the soldered joints. Have you swapped the input plugs round just to be completely sure it isn't the cable?
