Ernie, the possibility of me managing to “man up” to your Tog Rating is somewhat unlikely – I can scarcely manage 9 ½ Stone after a good meal. ;) ;)

I keep telling myself (and others) that the stable is now complete, although I believe that I can be quoted as previously saying this before.

Onwards:
Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions, which I have considered at length.

A Blue Flite was mentioned by Canuck and a Thompson Seatpost was mentioned by him & cce. The Thompson Posts are indeed beautifully made, but I need a bit of set-back on an 18” frame. Hopefully without causing offense, I just can’t bring myself to fit the Thompson version.

I did look into a Blue Flite, and very nearly bought one from e-bay, so maybe I will fit one sometime.

Here are a few more detailed pictures of the spec as is now, which you saw during my ride on Monday.

…. And if I do decide to fit some Electric Blue SIDs, without using Paint Shop Pro or something, here is a rough idea cobbled together.

And sacrifice the Explosif?

Blasphemy! ;-)
As I was posting up that picture Al, I had a feeling that you would be thinking about the Explosif’s welfare. Fear not though, I have more pairs of SIDs than you can shake a stick at ;)..... The Explosif will be well catered for, and could be absolutely fine if I fit it out with a Silver pair.

Just for now though, I will be leaving everything as it is – I’ve done enough swapping of bits around over the last few weeks, and just need to get out and ride now. :D

Re:

Have you fitted the Sid's yet? I prefer them to the marzocchi!

Good to see you out and about on the rare beast!

Hope you don't mind me sharing this Pip. We don't have to rely on catalogue shots now you have the real thing ;-)

I hope you don't mind me bumping this Pip. I have sneaky feeling this bike has appeared on RB at some point so apologies in advance. It popped up on one of the Facebook groups yesterday. It's the Ku's half brother...perhaps  Anyway, this would make one hell of a bike test, a 98 Hot vs. a 98 Ku.

Re:

Cheers Al, and a good call indeed  It would be an interesting comparison.

They could probably be considered as equals in the Kona hierarchy for 1998, and even have the same geometry, while those different tubes would be a real contrast.

I would assume that the Hot in these links are the same frame.

Scroll down to an interesting post from Anthony in the first thread who mentions both the 1998 Ku and interestingly the 1997 Caldera.
