Mornin'

Thought it was time to say hello.

I'm in the process of buying the Stunning P7 that was advertised here a couple of days back. Collecting it on Sunday and can't wait.

Former Kona rider but my Explosif was stolen when I was 17 and I kind of gave up MTB's. Started on Road earlier this year and am now going back to my childhood dream of an Orange!

I did buy an Explosif from here a few years back and built it up but sadly it was so small I never used it...

Hi!

Rob, 28 from Peterborough.

Recent history Orange C16r, Rock Lobster 853 and currently S-Works M2 with mixture of original and modern parts.

Been lurking a while so thought I'd better finally register.

Hello there.

Had a 10yr break (marriage, child, too much beer etc) and just started getting back into it as my son is now 6 and loves getting out on his new litlle Coyote that I bought him.
Bike history thus far: MT Shasta, Kona Cinder Cone, Kona Kula, Kona SEX 3: which I still have now as my retro bike! and just bought another Kula (2009 model) Kona nut ? - yep!!!

G'day

Scottish born and bred, so MTB is inevitable when you have as good riding as we have here.

Bit too young still to have not trashed any bike that would now be classified as Retro.

But I am a keen rider, so long as I can fit it inbetween the family etc.

HI

HI

I Found this site whilst looking for retro mtb pics one word............cool

previous bikes include:

1991 Fat chance wicked with grafton cranks and cantis.

Hello,

I'm amazed to have found this forum and gallery while trawling for things to make my 1989 Diamond Back rebuild projects come together a bit easier.

I'm in Canada and have been working for far too long to build a 1989 DB Ascent EX, Axis and Arrival. I've collected a truly absurd array of components on eBay thanks to US and UK sellers who have an inspiring abundance of old XT II and Mountain LX parts in new unused condition. As for frames--that's proving to be extremely difficult. I have an Apex frame full smoke paint-job and three Ascent EX frames (two forks) all in VERY poor condition--badly dented, decals completely scraped off--scrap mostly.

As for documentation, I have lots and lots that I'm happy to share with all of you as time allows me to scan and upload. I have 1989 DB Adverts, including my favourite for the Ascent EX, the 1989 DB US Catalogue, 1989 Shimano parts catalogues and brochures as well as some interesting reviews. I've started with a few pages in my gallery: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/mai ... emId=60172

(How can I get more disk space to add the other catalogue pages--they need to be large files otherwise they're illegible!)

I look forward to being a part of the RetroBike community and finally getting my bikes on the ground and a big smile on my face!

Best regards,
Andre.

Hi all

Found the site while searching for information on Pace models.

I used to be a triathlete in the early to mid-90's and dabbled in some off road riding in the off season. Was part of the Cycle Surgery Philishave team but mainly for my enthusiasm rather than any discernible ability. Managed to finish last in each race of the 1995 MB magazine series...

While I always wanted a Pace bike, I couldn't justify the £3k price tag so made do with a 2nd hand Marin rocky ridge.

I retired from triathlon in 1996 after yet another RTA, got married, sold my bikes and settled down.

Mercifully my eldest son is getting into cycling, which has given me a reason to go and get the bike I've always wanted!!!

Thanks to an avid reader of the 'wanted' section, I'm now the proud owner of an RC200 F7 Team Edition - the limited edition red anodised one.

Without wishing to appear ungrateful, and having tried to love it, I realise that I should have held my nerve and waited for a polished one because in my minds eye I want to be riding a Pace that looks like neilll's polished F6 with the chrome rigid forks and fluo brakes or Jerky's AMAZING black/gold F5.

This is where I would appreciate some advice.

Should I consider getting mine stripped and polished or reanodised silver, and build it up with all the yummy bits I'd like, or better pass it on a is to someone who will appreciate its redness, and keep an eye out for a polished frame (along with everyone else it seems!).

Thanks guys
Adam

Used to have a Marin Palisades with flourescent yellow forks & ball burnished frame many years ago, then a variety of Specialized Rockhoppers, my last one was in 2006...
