the hoarding continues.....

Dirt Disciple
i just ordered several NIB Syncros parts to add the the collection......found a Forged Aluminum crankset, 107mm Ti bracket, and a 110mm steel bracket.

i might have paid a bit more than i think i should have but......for NIB.....it's hard to argue.

all the way from New Hampshire......pics when they get here.....

so a few years ago, i started to notice that the familiar places i could count on for a stock of syncros stuff were starting to disappear.

at some point i found this site:

http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/cranksets.asp

i called up and at the time they had several of the 175 and 107s in stock. i thought that i'd order a set when the price came down or i got desperate.

recently a friend found a NIB ritchey p-22 that i built with all sorts of cool parts BUT......he wanted one pair of my forged aluminium cranksets to complete the bike properly.

so i gave him a killer deal on the set that was in the least perfect condition.

a while after that.....anther friend broke an early set of the forged alu carnksets. this was the one where the logo was stamped into the arm right next to the crank bolt. because of this, the logo covered the point at which the arm bends to make it parallel to the chainrings....and this is where i saw the failures back in the 90s.

again, i took the least perfect set and gave him a really good deal on it.

while i wasn't desperate for another set.....over the years i've found when i hesitate on something, i lose out.

so.....since i had sold two sets....one NIB would be a perfect addition to the other 4 NIB sets i have in storage.

at any rate.....i'd been looking for a new set in very good condition. i'd found some beat up sets but i always prefer not to inherit someone else's parts history or abuse of parts.

so i went back to the peter white site and saw that they were still listed. i also noticed that the page had not be updated since sept of 2007.

i rang them up anyway to find that they had a NIB forged alu set in stock......and two bottom brackets!

so today was a really nice day, cause i can't see any signs of handling at all. these things must have been sitting in these boxes since they received them......
