The Great Dividing Trail

This is why I get pissed off living in Melbourne, all the best trails are miles away! We should try and get a Aus Retro ride happening one day mate.

There was a whole swathe of trails around the Yarra and Merri creek when I was a kid. I'm guessing they have all been landscaped and paved now. I remember a really hairy drop off near the dump near what would now be that kids farm (Ceres?) back when the dumps were unmanned and free for all.. remember that smell? There was a beauty running up stream from the Fairfield boathouse through Heidelberg. Now I think of it there were more than ever had time for, 20 years ago though
Happy memories!

Are there any trails left within inner Melb?

I'd make an effort attend a retro ride for sure. the trails in this thread are only 1.5 hours from Spencer st by car or train.. up and home in a day is not too painful.

Beautiful country!

It's funny.. I think that about all the photos I see of "rainy miserable Scotland" etc.. I oggle at the photos of peoples trails I see on this site wishing I was there. Actually taking the camera with me and posting a few photos of my regular trail has really made me stop and appreciate it a lot more. I guess it's just the grass is greener factor.

I'll be taking a camera with me more often.
