It gets to the point where it's "Whose the slave & whose the master"
Its been a few months since i updated this thread and i thought i might let you know how I've got on.
Selling off a lot of my kit has certainly had its benefits.....the biggest of which is the ability to focus on one project and do it well, rather than being permanently distracted by other stuff......mostly hanging on the walls or worse tripping me up.
Oddly, another strange byproduct has been that my mind has changed over direction and types of projects i want in the future. I think, that having a lot of accumulated stuff made me limit my sphere of though to those items, some of which I've had for many years. I've changed since I've had them, so has my riding and mindset and the clearout has made me realise its futile continuing to build bikes that were suitable for me 30 years ago or that i wanted back then. Dont get me wrong, nostalgia has a place ( this whole sites badically built on it) but whats the point of having something i cant use! Im sorry im just not a Klein wall hanger type of guy.
Finally, i know what i HAVE got.....this is fantastic. Everything is in bags or boxes and labelled....spares down to 3 plastic stackable boxes and all components cleaned serviced, repaired and ready to fit when i need them......plus they are all in boxes with silica to keep them nice.
So.....more space, more money, more freedom.....less crap and lots of new exciting avenues to go down.

Early on I realised things might get out of hand. So just before pandemic as part of garage make over, I bought a tool trolly to house the lot.
If the spares don’t fit in/on the trolley, I can’t have them. Once full, it’s stuff gotta go before alternates can turn up, including tyres !! I added some folding shelf brackets to the back with stick up bolts as the tyre rack. I did think about foam inlay so everything has its place, but too much faff chop and changing it. I might add a flip up wooden tool rack on the top one day.
Now if I ever move house, it’s grab the trolley and off we go. That’s the lot. Oh and the 10 bikes on the shelf/wall of course !!

I'm signing into this self-help thread, if that's ok with you @Tootyred? A couple of people on here have had the misfortune to look in my shed. There's one reason above all others that keeps me from finishing bikes quickly; I blame lack of time, which is only true because of how long it takes to find anything in my shed (tools and parts). I have quite a lot of new tools, still in the packages they arrived in, waiting to get hung up on the wall but the wall needs an overhaul itself. Sometimes I think I'm making a bit of progress........then I find something else to buy 
The bottom line is that I don't have enough space for what I've got.
In all seriousness it definitely isn't great for the mental health and does somewhat detract from the enjoyment of the hobby.

For tools, I was thinking of making something like this out of wood. Cheap and easy enough to do. Then if I ever moved I could just take it off the wall like a giant briefcase
