I guess it would depend on how long a steerer you needed. You could simply cut the threaded section off and install a star fangled nut inside but that would leave a shorter tube (prob too short)

I don't think clamping a ahead stem to a threaded steerer is recommended.

Do you mind checking how long would the steerer be after cutting the thread off? If it's around 180mm pm me your email...
