Fame number is AT5M2868

Forks have the name 'Aprebic' stamped on steerer tube. Which is a fork builder out in Taiwan.

so it's going to be one of them things where you'll stumble across it


Fork might have a stamp on them like 04.95 etc. they also made suspension forks too.

It could almost be a 95 Volante but the rack mounts are different and the fork is tapered.

Forks have 95 0 stamped on them and measure 395mm from crown race to centre of dropout.

The chainstays are pretty distinctive. They are sort of box section with the top and bottom of the tube flat and the sides slightly rounded. Imagine a ovalised tube with the top and bottom flattened.

The mystery continues.....

When my Raleigh MTrax Ti 2000 frame unglued itself I bought a no name frame for £100. It would have been 1997 or '98 and it had snake seat and chain stays. Yours could easily be a similar but earlier no name frame. If it rides as well as mine did you're a lucky man, though I think the aforementioned seat and chain stays did a lot to cushion the ride.

Just as an aside. My British Eagle produced aluminium Lotuses have a K in front of seven digits.
