Just picked this charming piece up, Ultragal c2008 853 iirc👌

This in some ways represents the end of the British Bike Era.

You can follow a line to this point from the original touring bikes, and the galaxy from around 1970.
But soon it stops dead.

Of course this is manufactured in the far East, but from Tubes drawn in the same factory as the original.

We sold a few new, but Dawes never really moved the design on before ditching the Galaxy concept.

At the time, with no developments planned,
I suggested something stupid like discs - their response,:
"we're not specialized you know"🤯

Well they aren't now, that's for sure.

Back then they had a world famous best selling bike, in a style poised to dominate the quality bike market, all it needed was a touch more tyre clearance and disc mounts, and that was plain to see.

Genesis clearly got the message. The multitude of CdF models seems to be plugging many holes.
