The best TV Theme tune of all time...

....and we've not even touched upon all of the classic themes that soundtracked the TV output of Lew Grade's empire in the 1960s. Edwin Astley did a good deal of the work (The Saint, Randall & Hopkirk, etc., etc.) with the Barry Gray Orchestra providing the themes for Gerry Anderson's stuff. Plus Ron Grainer's "The Age of Elegance" from that cult series to end all cult series. Be seeing you! ;)

Surely it has to be Minder? After all, I wrote the theme tune [1], sang the theme tune....

:)

On a serious note, two stand-out 70s theme tunes for me; Laurie Johnson's score for The Professionals (possibly the best thing about the whole series; credits sequence here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCit5ApWeIE), and Johnny Pearson's "Heavy Action" from Superstars (soundtrack to a thousand Keegan-falling-off-bike clips ;) ).

[1] Popular misconception, however, this; it was actually his then-wife Patricia who wrote it, not Dennis.

Two more Sci-Fi: Space 1999, and Blake's 7.

Can't view Youtube from work, so it might have been mentioned -

Surely the answer is the A Team!

De du de deeeeeeeeerh, de de deeeeeeeerh.

Who needs youtube to get a tune across... :D :D :D

Perhaps this thread would be even more fun if nominations were in the above format...

Equalizer FTW, would be great to see a new version.

I had an epiphany I was supposed to write a new version screenplay.

got all excited. Thought Jason Statham (to suit a rougher more empowered lower orders British society in general) and a late edition Jag XJR (before the aluminium one)....

then read on IMDb, one was planned for 2012.
