Original paint jobs were superb. Level of kit- cooks etc was top drawer, but i think for the most part there weren't many buyers, and bikes like Santa Cruz were more popular and sought after in those heady 90's of the bike craze.
They never appeared to me as a bike that was built to ride, more a hang on the wall and stare at like some sort of lbs advertising.

Yeti FROs still used heavy ‘plain guage’ CRO Mo tubing in the late 80s. The Yo Hemming bunny hopped @ 93 Malvs is still going strong as Jeroen’s favourite rider at the Dutch Mountain bike museum. He has countless Kleins, Salsas, Yetis etc to choose from. How many times has it been slammed flat and it still rides like a dream, just had a repaint and a repro BOI fitted.

Two standout bikes I've owned & ridden, Klein Attitude, Pace RC200. Both visually stunning, light, fast, agile, responsive, harsh (well, they are race bikes), and both cracked...
I guess they deserve their places in mtb folklore, but generally the steel & Ti bikes are still going strong all

I’ve never understood the dentist joke. They earn decent money but not that much compared to many other professionals or business owners.

Is it that you only become a dentist for the money or unless you’re a masochist and enjoy inflicting pain on others.

A point of cultural difference perhaps: they're significantly better paid in the USA than they are here, both in absolute terms and relative to average (median) incomes.
